My statement is based out of experiance as well. I take my gear to a lot of hostile environments and have found the pick and pluck foam lacking when it comes to strength. I'm glad yours has stood the test of time.

It was the spray type. 2 coats. Allow 30 minutes to dry between each coat.

Pick and pluck foam is fragile and will rip apart when you take items in and out repeatedly. The plasti dip just seals it all up to hold it's shape. Works really well.
