Heading to Bournemouth UK next week, is there anywhere to fly without breaking a law? Wanted to fly the New Forest?

Welcome, have a look at this.... AirMap Web App lots of controlled airspace, not certain of the UK rules with respect to that... Good app to install also... I check it everywhere I go, as my Spark travels everywhere I go.

Definitely download the app but you'll find most areas in England have restrictions and where not, the local authorities shove in their own. All of the coastal path is owned by the National Trust and they have a blanket ban too on all the land and sites they administer. Its strange that you can disturb the peace and wildlife with mountain bikes and long-lens cameras with impunity, yet a little drone is considered a serious risk. These organisations have just latched onto the real fears for airspace around airports, military and home office areas for no reason other than to jump on the wagon of "let's spoil others fun that we are totally ignorant about". Unfortunately, there are those who flout the UAV rules that then reinforce their case. Also, register with the CAA so that you receive local aircraft movement warnings e.g. the Red Arrows and local air displays.

Thanks for the information, loaded the CAA software and looks like I’ll have to travel outside Bournemouth to fly! And no flying in the New Forest.

UAV Forecast has pretty good coverage in the UK plus once you put your settings in it gives you lots of information at a glance and a basic thumbs up or down from flying where you are. Worth a look if you aren't familiar with it.
