More of a Mavic drone DJI go app idea...for scenes where objects are not moving. But given the stable hover attributes of camera drones some scenes might apply.
There is a software called Helicon Focus (30 day free trial, $30 for a year). I tried the software with it's companion app Helicon Remote (Helicon remote not needed though to use Helicon Focus). The idea is to use 'focus peaking' in manual mode or simply multiple image sequences at progressive focus intervals with Helicon Focus software.
First image - foreground in sharp focus
Then:
One or more intermediary focused images
Lastly:
An image with the farthest background point in focus

Helicon Focus produces a continuously focused (throughout the scene) image from the images in what is referred to as a 'focus stack'.

Focus peaking is simply a visual assist in taking images to make up the focus stack.
