Hi all. Anyone know of any free (non-subscription) SFX sources? I make a few family slide and video films including Spark shots (obviously without sound), and although iMovie (which I use to edit) has a good range of SFX it is pretty limited. Trying to get atmospheric background sound is tricky unless one records it on video and I like to add atmos behind my films. Would value input as always.

If you have the disk space, I recently checked out this freebie (there's no obligation just for downloading), its about 4Gb to download... used my son's insane fibre optic to download it today... our internet is like an arthritic sloth. It took less than a minute to download. Wowza!

There's a demo of some of the sounds you can audition. I found a library called Free World Sounds... some good stuff in it. This is it's link Free Nature Sound Effects by Marcel Gnauk - 99Sounds

That's pretty cool Robin, thanks for sharing. Ahh the blessed fibre, I'm 3.5 miles from it, so close yet so far...argh.

So Mr, Twickers, did that work for you?
Well, I have saved them in my Reading List and will wake them up in a couple of weeks when I have a pal who is somewhat more tech savvy than me coming round to sort out out my usual list of things I can’t do! I can do the downloads no probs but how on earth I get the sounds into my film via iMovie (which is my editing go-to) I’m not sure so he’ll sort it. Again thanks for the pointers. The second one you IDd seems just right as it is the atmos/background sounds I need.
