Say it isn't so! Has DJI removed 360 panos?

I haven't had time to fly much the past few months, but the few time I did, I got an "unable" error message when I tried to take a 360 pano.

Sphere 360 panos were certainly my favorite thing to do with the Spark.

Today, to my shock and chagrin, I went to my local "DJI" store and the employee said yes DJI removed that feature in one of the last upgrades a few
months ago; he disclaimed knowledge of "why" emphasizing the the store was an "independent franchise" and not part of DJI (ludicrous enough).

The most amazing part of this, if true, was the absolute absence of any coverage of this either in any of the media tech news or this forum.

Please someone, say it isn't so. I'll be happy to acknowledge that it's related my frequently occurring "operator error" syndrome.

Respectfully,

My 360 pano is still there.

I used it two days ago.

If you were using the Go 4 Mod 2.0, I believe it does not have pano, but it has other cool stuff normally unavailable to the Spark.

Like what pray tell; I doubt they can compare in any way to the uniqueness and fun of a sphere photo? Thanks for honest reply.

Things like cine mode, course lock, home lock, point-of-interest. Some you may have no interest in. The sphere photo thing, IMO, is something to do maybe once or twice as more for the novelty rather than utility. But then it all depends on what you want to do with your Spark.

I do 360 spherical panos all the time. Shot a number of them on Friday on my Spark and 4 of them yesterday on my P3S. I don’t find them a novelty. I always create Equirectangular projections for VR display and the TinyPlanet projections for each pano I shoot. It is a great way to capture the area you fly in at that particular time and can be used to emphasize specific features. For example yesterday I flew my P3S in heavy wet snow. The trees were covered in white. I used a Tiny Planet projection to try to emphasize the snow covered trees.

Things like this are why we fear doing uploads. If DJI would send an explaination of any changes before we download an update, that would be great.

Impressed!

OK, so with the input of you guys above, I tried to run through other reasons notwithstanding the guy at the DJI store and came up with this:
The DJI GO 4 version number I was using is the latest, 4.3.29. and I assumed you all were using it.

Since I could still shoot other photos with no problems, I thought the problem might be with a full sd card - so I reformatted it.
Still no sphere pano but I did notice it was not a good, fast "sandisk" but rather a cheap offbrand from amazon and I remember I changed it a few months ago when I wanted to archive the card I was using. So I put in a Sandisk Ultra 64 xc1, circle 10- A1, reformatted it and also did a "Camera reset" in the app. Started Sparky up in my kitchen, held my breath and
BINGO! I was in Spark Sphere city again!

I big shout out and chest pound to the guys who replied to the thread Happy Sparking and Happy Holidays!

PS Not sure what to say to the guy at the DJI store...

Glad to hear that you figured it out.

I love making 360 panos as well. You might consider upgrading to a Mavic Air. Beauty of this machine is that it stitches the pano while it is flying.

Let's see some 360 panos. If your work is interesting I may end up using that mode.

Very cool.

I had the 360 pano confused with the Sphere Pano (tiny planet).

Is this easy to do?

Thanks for sharing.

The TinyPlanet is a 360 pano, it’s just a different projection. It uses all the same images that are stitched together. You can create both projections from the same set of images. I use PTGui for mine but have heard Microsoft ICE works too and it’s free.

I have posted some of my TinyPlanets in other threads on here and if I get some time, I’ll post some more (busy with Christmas at the moment).

Thanks Chris.

I have MS ICE and have successfully made a handful of the tiny planets.

I'll dig around and see about how to do the interactive 360 photos.
