    Time after the 107 exam

My exam showed up in IACRA 48 hours after test. Will follow up with info on when cert arrives.

Overview of current hobbyist FAA rules (updated 7/23/19)

I'm still new to this, but I think that part 107 is the norm - it covers all UAS operation for any purpose unless you want to fly per the exception, which can only be recreationally. The text of Part 107 doesn't mention the term 'commercial'. So I dont think you are only permitted to fly under...

    Low noise props

Given near-silent motors, the biggest factor contributing to noise is rotor rpm. Two quads of same weight, one with regular blades, another with more efficient ones, will show a clear difference in noise level as the regular blades have to turn faster to achieve same lift. Caveat - noise levels...

Overview of current hobbyist FAA rules (updated 7/23/19)

I agree. My understanding is that if you have a Part 107 cert, then you are operating under those rules, period, no matter the purpose of the flight (commercial or recreational) and use LAANC to get authorization for flight in controlled airspace.

    Go 4 Android crashes

Lets do some science on this people. 1) Install an app that tells you how much free RAM your phone / tablet has (in the notifications bar) 2) Set up your phone however you want - airplane mode, all other apps closed, etc - but note down the free RAM at this point 3) Start DJI Go 4 and operate...

The DJI's Osmo Sport Camera Announcement Is Hiding Something

Regarding DJI's range of photographic products in general, are the high end cameras and lenses for the Zenmuse X5 and X7 series usable on the ground, perhaps with an Osmo like grip, or is this new product intended to be the 'ground' product?

FAA Section 349, Recreational Operations ~ The bits & pieces

Q: who is the 'Administrator?' As in "“(5) In Class B, Class C, or Class D airspace or within the lateral boundaries of the surface area of Class E airspace designated for an airport, the operator obtains prior authorization from the Administrator or designee before operating and complies with...

    Advantages / Disadvantages - 336 vs 107

I have a FAA ATP for helicopters but haven't flown professionally in 18 years, so because I'm not 'current' I will need to need to do same test for UAS as people who have never flown anything. Seems odd - you think anyone who had any FAA pilot cert, or at the very least any commercial license...

AirMap app for FAA Part 101E (Fly for Fun)

This thread prompted me to explore the AirMap app as I plan to get a Spark in next week or so. However, looking at the map in Airmap, it tells me that at this moment there are precisely 34 sUAS flights active in the entire USA. Is the system not working, not being used, or does it only show...
