I'm not so sure a wayward Spark or Tello could wreak quite the similar havoc as a manned plane. But to some, it might seem like parity in rulemaking, and a prudent solution.

I absolutely think they do. They pretty much even say so in this Brendan Schulman interview story. Or at least he intimates that they will do that, and that's exactly what they are building into their control technology (probably so they don't appear so obvious that they want to share).

This should definitely get me on a "list"- I don't have as much of a problem with vids of "breaking the rules" as I do with the ones that clearly break the rules and are hazardous or just idiotic. (And if you mention that "drones can fly-away" as the reason for the rules, then go after the mfrs...

I probably could have stated it better, but DJI can't tell you with any certainty if their Spark was or was not transmitting data to you (a possible defect "abnormality") or if it was your device that failed to receive their transmission. I know what I'd do in this case if I was the device...

Crap answer, clearly to cast doubt in their favor. It boils down to them not considering the failure of their product to log the possibility of faulty or incomplete TRANSMISSION of signal to YOUR device as a possibility, imo. They instead incorrectly assume that it was somehow transmitting yet...

Agree with SparkPete. I think I'd keep pressing DJI for an answer to why the log ended mid flight (obvious by distance & altitude) and with sufficient battery.

Gotcha. Sorry to bother.. I must have missed it. Thanx, and keep up the great work! One final thought.. Since you're using the SDK for some things (I think?), Does your app allow takeoff in NFZ's or restrict the DJI/SDK sending flight data back to it's servers?

Looks like this app has promise and is exactly what I've been waiting for for 2 years!. But I can't get it to locate my position offline (haven't tried connecting yet). Motorola G4, location svcs is on, app has location access, Google Maps locations work. It almost looks like the red location...
