Are you talking about the IMU calibration steps? If so, are you are rotating the Spark as shown in the little picture in the app (its not a clear picture and its not clear what it is asking you to do)

Tell him, as suggested by someone else to gently touch the gimbal to try and move it. Also gently rock the spark to see if gimbal tries to compensate for movement. Bedtime here, so good luck

Gimbal should work in beginner mode, it's something else. With it on the ground, not flying, you should be still able to moved the gimbal using the gimbal control

When you say adjust on the remote, I assume you mean the left thumb wheel? Is it in sport mode?
