    Drones at Disneyworld

Only Disney can fly drones over the park areas (until 2020). They're part of the Holiday show I believe. I would contact the resort for their policy on UAV use. Most resorts don't like the idea, but If you have remote pilot certification, they may allow it. Resorts are full of people... not...

As a newbie will I regret not buying the controller?

If your primary use is a "selfie drone" then the controller isn't necessary. The added range the controller provides is nice. At first, a newbie may find switching between controller and phone use a bit frustrating, but otherwise having both will 'expand your horizons'. Please keep in mind...

Another Spark fly-away tale (True Story - Please help)

Did the message display "Home Point recorded" before you took off?

how do you override return to home

Take off weight is more than .55 lbs.... unless you takethe battery off and throw it, it's a sUAV. I will say the FAA is sketchy on this... The rules are unspecific, but if it ever becomes an issue in the field, they'll weigh it with the battery... I'll bet on that. :) Maybe they aren't...

how do you override return to home

The maximum allowable altitude is 400 feet above the ground, higher if your drone remains within 400 feet of a structure. This is what the FAA says. So McFly does know the FAA rules for UAS operation.

how do you override return to home

RTH is programmable. First the spark will move to the preprogrammed altitude, then start flying a direct route back to the home point. So..... if the preset altitude was say 150 ft., it would have started descending... the rate of descent is slow in RTH mode, so it allowed the Spark to be...

    Drone racers blame DJI users

Finger pointing is inevitable. Let it go.... The fact is, there are no NEW FAA rules to speak of yet, so there's already blame for rules that haven't been implemented. So far the 'crackdown' includes a test, that hasn't been written yet... Everything else in the Bill pretty much expands the...

    HR 302 (US)

Pretty sure he did.... UAV laws were kinda tacked on to the FAA funding through 2023. On a bright side, airline seats won't get any thinner!

I will be putting off any new UAV purchases as well, at least until the Gubmint decides on how many hoops I need to jump through to fly. This can very easily become the demise of a hobby, and industry. I hope it doesn't.

Keep in mind, that a "passing a safety test" requirement can just as easily be overlooked and/or ignored. Having such a certification as a pre-requisite to purchasing a UAV will likely follow.

Why Do I Keep Picking the Spark as my "Go To Drone"?

The Spark is awesome for travel. Packs small, great selfie drone, just got back from a trip, and I didn't miss my P3A one bit. It seems to be less 'obtrusive' to other people as well. I did draw attention with Hand gesture mode... but it was all good. I've also delayed a Mavic 2 Zoom...

    First flight w/ controller

Stay out of sport mode until you're comfortable with the controls. Just because you have extended range, don't go all out. Work your way further out slowly. As said above, the controller is far better for controlling the Spark.

Legit JUST bought Spark (9 Hours Flight Time)... my thoughts on Mavic Air

I never called it a beginner drone, I said it had enough features to satisfy a beginner. The Spark being 'under rated' is subjective. Most of the low ratings are apples to oranges type comparisons, basically because there's nothing comparable to it, that's 'in its league'. Everything I've...

Legit JUST bought Spark (9 Hours Flight Time)... my thoughts on Mavic Air

The Spark is definitely a good buy, and has enough features to satisfy the beginner for quite a while. I started with the P3A as well. When I go specifically to "fly" I bring both, and the P3A gets it's fair share of air time. That being said, the Spark goes with me on motorcycle rides, and...
