FAA to UAS Violation Enforcement for December 2021 (hopefully one of many)

Wow. That was a whole other level of stupid. I had not heard about that incident but a quick Google search brought up the footage. What was he/she thinking?

Downward Vision & Infrared Sensor Error

Thought I'd post one more follow-up... Weather has been cold, with snow, rain, etc. I haven't been interested in flying until this past Monday, 21 Feb 2022, when the temps came up and the winds died down. I've kept my batteries topped off and finally got to take the bird out. After sending out...

Downward Vision & Infrared Sensor Error

Just a follow up. I sent in for repair to DJI. They sent me a screenshot that exactly matched the one above, quoted me $96 to repair. I decided my Spark has a little more life in her before replacement so I paid the repair fee and am awaiting return. Including the new remote, I'm in for roughly...

Downward Vision & Infrared Sensor Error

Yep, you're responses all make sense. If no one else has any suggestions or insites into repair costs, I may try to part out the Spark and put what ever I can get against a new Mini2. Thanks.

Downward Vision & Infrared Sensor Error

Like many of you, my Spark remote stopped taking a charge, so I haven't flown it in several months. Looking online, most replacements were $200 and up. Ouch! But then I found an OEM on eBay for $100 to my door, and bought it. I linked the remote to my Spark yesterday and upon trying to take off...

    Spark controller not charging

I'm also having a problem with my controller. Have you sold many on this forum? I see you only have 1 post and joined back in February so I was wondering if you have any luck selling to all the users here? Thanks for the reply.

FAA Release NEW rules for UAS Operations

Oh, this is what I was missing. Regardless of whether someone's around to receive the signal, it's going to be broadcast. For example, should a pilot wander into the same air space, then he might pick up on it. Thanks.

FAA Release NEW rules for UAS Operations

So the FAA recognized their blind spot when it comes to collecting this data and removed the requirement to broadcast via network/Internet for now. (pg. 16). The summary (linked above) says: "Network-based / Internet transmission requirements have been eliminated." Practically speaking, what...

    Kent Island MD

Awesome! I sailed a Beneteau 38 in the Carib. 2 years ago. Fun boat to sail. Was going back this year with my Spark, but then Covid.....

FAA Announces 8 Companies to help with RemoteID

Wing is actually Alphabet/Google. I may be a nay-sayer but we're going the way of rocket clubs.

    Finally Done It!

How many times has a pilot forgotten there's a "pause" button "||" on the remote? When you get in too hot, hit pause and Sparky will stop whatever it's doing and freeze on the spot. Stay in "beginner" mode for the first several flights. Read manuals, watch YouTube (Ty is the man). Forget about...

    Sparky went for a swim

Try using dessicant vs. rice. Dessicant is made for absorbing moisture. Else, put in a very, very, VERY low temp. oven. That will bake out any moisture.

    Drone Shot With A Shotgun

Yep, if you're completely legal, then you can probably report him. Where I live, you cannot shoot a gun in a neighborhood. That's why I have an "air" rifle (I would not point it at a drone). Might not be a popular sentiment, but IMO, good citizenship suggests you would not want to fly a drone...
