Not sure about Canada, but selling a Spark era drone with RID now here is a tough ask. If anyone in into the MavicPilots forum, a Spark could likely be posted there ok too, sometimes there are new people popping up there looking for an entry drone.

I guess authorities don't want to be buying expensive gear to be able to read regular app hacked signals. Aeroscope certainly has had its day, well at least the mobile version is no longer available, the fixed model for airports etc is still there for those places authorities deem necessary...

But can authorities still use the RID transmissions ? This is the primary reason for it being brought in. If the signals can't be read by private folk with a phone app, how do authorities still pick it up if they have seen or had a report of dangerous flying ?

No, it's actually cat (or level) 5 wind resistance. It's based on the Beaufort scale. Fairly common drone wind resistance levels for all DJIs drones. I'm not sure if other drone makers use a similar scale. Your reference is to the Saffir–Simpson hurricane wind scale.

Unless you are flying out to the verges of wifi limits (drone / controller), or have too much interference between drone and controller, then it could be some wifi or cable problem with controller - device connection. Do you use wifi or cable connection controller to device ? If using a cable...

No ban on DJI consumer drones is planned afaik, just US federal and perhaps some state govco use. I guess if you use DJI drones for govco contracts you might be affected, but for most of us it will be life as usual, as long as you comply with whatever RID type legislation is brought in.

Might be good to set up cable connection for them for controller - device. It's really rock solid and how I have always used my Spark.
