Mavmount Assembly/Options

The base that connects to the remote is solid aluminum, but I believe the actual clamp is just plastic? Why did they skimp out and opt for a plastic clamp? The whole thing should be carbon fiber for strength/light weight.

For members currently using the Mavmount, do you agree? If so, do you know of a 3rd party replacement clamp that’s built better?

Also, who is using the mavclip? The company wants me to buy the lanyard will tthe clip.. no other options. Anyone rig something else that does the job?

I use my MavMount with my Mavic Air. Previously used with the Spark as well, but purchased the DJI mount to keep in separate cases. Never had any problems with either. The plastic component you refer to works quite well and is very sturdy. The lanyard use permits me to dangle the RC and grab a quick swallow of water. I've had no problems with either the DJI mount of the MavMount.

I need a mavclip for my harness, but can’t get myself to pay $16 + $7 shipping for it! I mean its just a small piece of metal that probably costs pennies to make.. almost looks like a soda can tab! Maybe I can find something similar at Home Depot?

I really appreciate the gesture.. so kind of you! I’m thinking the best alternative solution is a “double washer“, “split ring”, or a “spring clip washer” with the key being to have a flat or flush surface between the mount and the clamp. Here are some Google search results.. getting close!
