Newbie question about Obstacle Avoidance and backwards flying..

I just recently got a spark and have been messing around with it's current features...and I was wondering,

In normal flying mode, with the spark hovering, Obstacle Avoidance on, and backwards flying on. When I walked towards the spark it would sense that I was getting closer to it, but it did not fly backwards, is it supposed to automatically fly backwards as I approach it, or is this only in active tracking mode?

Obstacle avoidance is meant for flying forwards. If it sees an obstacle it will stop. What you are describing would only work in active track.
