Taking off and landing on a moving boat/ship

Flying low over water can be stressing even with
the feet on the beach...
You got to be aware that Sparky can act strangly
as he "loose" the detection of the water surface.

I often fly from a boat and haven’t had a water landing (yet). These are what I’ve found to be most important (in no particular order):

#1 Manually reset Home Point often in case of signal loss

#2 Master return to home using only Map View in the event you lose visual contact

#3 Don’t lose visual contact

#4 Master hand launch and landing technique

#5 Stay at least 3 feet above water surface because any lower the visual system misread the reflective surface and tends to descend (sometimes rapidly)

#6 Use a polarizing filter to reduce glare and enhance water coloration

In addition to what Andre Levite has posted, fly backwards when returning to the boat.

The Spark will be in orientation with the joysticks so that on final approach to land, it will be easier to navigate back to your hand.
