If you live in a CE country (Europe, Australia, etc) then the Sparks transmission power is reduced due to local regulations. The stated 2km range is reduced to a stated 500m, but in reality I've never seen more than about 200m in perfect conditions before getting issues.

All Sparks are the same. Wether you get CE or FCC power depends on where you physically are in the world at that time. If you have gone on holiday to an FCC country you'll be getting FCC power (your drone will have prompted you that the WiFi settings had changed when you turned it on and then...

If you live in an FCC country it's great. If you live in a CE country the reduced transmitter power is the main cause of all the connectivity issues and makes the drone frustrating to use. I would not recommend a Spark to someone in a CE country without them being happy to hack it.

Well the hacked app approach works a charm. Litterally took as much time/effort as uninstalling Go 4 and installing the hacked version. Flew 500m away with not a hint of dropout or signal problems, having previously hit issues as soon as I went over 200m.

I'm android so can't help I'm afraid. How can I tell what mode I'm in? FCC or CE? Is there a read out in the app showing the mode or signal power that I can check?

What's the easiest way to allow you to change from CE to FCC power restrictions on the Spark transmitter? I have a spare iPhone and a spare Android which I'm happy to mess about with if it's easier to do it on the device rather than mess with Spark or RC firmware.
