just spotted a vid where the guy was using a fire tablet for the spark/DJI Go4 app...

bearing in mind my phone battery went down yesterday I am looking for something with a longer battery life so am considering a tablet...

So, is the fire any good for the dji go4 app and the spark???

- or is there a good alternative I could use?
(I dont fancy shelling out for a new ipad ;) )

thanks for any help!

I bought a Fire HD 8" tablet and followed instructions to get google store and loaded DJI GO 4 on it. I tried it a couple times with my Spark but I was not pleased with the results. The screen on tablet was slow to respond. Video cut out a couple times. Very slow trying to download pics and video to tablet. Problems with Pano shots stitching on the tablet.

I returned it and will use my iPad Air instead.

I’m running a 7th Gen Fire HD10 and loving it. Great transmitted image quality, little to no latency and seems to run stable on the platform using both WiFi and OTG (I have about 10 flights using the HD10 and well over 100 flights using an iPhone SE).

I’ve tried running DJI Go on a 7th gen Fire 7 and couldn’t use it, there was significant latency and distortion of image transmission quality (likely from the 1G RAM, 1.3Ghz quad core processor and 8G total memory). I’d imagine that an HD8 would be similar as both the 7 and HD8 run a 1.3Ghz quad core processor with a slight increase of RAM favoring the HD8 (it has 1.5G of RAM).

The HD10 runs a 1.8Ghz quad core processor (2 cores @ 1.3Ghz, 2 cores @ 1.8Ghz), 2G of RAM and total internal storage of 64G. My favorite aspect of the HD10 is the screen quality and immediate playback of videos through the SD card slot. Plus it was $95 on sale over Christmas, can’t beat that!

If you’re considering a Fire then go after the HD10, it’s the only model with specs to cleanly run DJI Go 4 / DJI Go Modded.

BH123 thanks for the info and your experience on the Fire HD10. Just curious have you been able to find a sun hood to fit the HD10?

Great info, thanks!
- I have just set up my Kindle Fire 7 as it came yesterday afternoon..
It looks ok in the house but I will check when I fly with it outside.
The cracked screen 7 was £19.99 and a screen protector another 30p so I guess it's not much of a loss if it doesn't perform well enough.

Thanks again for the help.

Hi guys, Brian Hill I haven’t been able to source a sunshade yet and doing a search didn’t turn up any options unfortunately. I may follow BrianP’s lead and try to make one.
