Auto Flight modes

I'm just getting into using some of the auto modes & it seems like after using certain modes the Spark will just stop & hover & with others it will keep going until you take control again. So do most of you put the controller down somewhere out of shot & run back to get it after you have the footage you want? I guess if you're using your phone to control it you can put your phone in your pocket (if you have a pocket). But what about if you're moving away from your start point will the Spark just hover while you run back & grab your controller? May seem like stupid questions but I'm a bit leary of letting the Spark go out of my control, I trust myself but not a computer

I personally always have my controller on me.

I keep my controller with me and try to hide it out behind me, out of the camera view (almost always unsuccessful).

Even when using Gesture Controls, I too, keep at least my ipod on me.

You are wise to not want to let go of control. My experience with that was bad. Definitely keep something connected, even if just your phone direct with wifi
