Wondering if anyone has had any luck with putting a contact number/and or address on drone. If you lose it and someone finds it, can return it. Maybe even a small reward.

I suppose someone could keep it or sell it, but if they really have no interest in that, you might get it back.

Not sure what a sufficient reward should be. Just enough to make it worthwhile to most people.

Or is this a bad idea for some reason?

It's a great idea if you want to be able to recover a lost & found drone and/or take responsibility for your actions.

I have labels on mine with my mobile number, house number, post code.

putting a contact number/and or address on drone.

Put your information on the SD card too.
Stickers may be damaged in time when exposed to the elements.

Here in the US, I put my FAA number on the drone which you are required to do. With that they can track the drone back to the owner so whether you cause damage, kill someone or not, they'll be able to track it back to you.

I put my info on the SD card. A text file titled Drone_Owner.txt. I also offer a reward if the drone is returned. For my Spark I offer a $100 reward. For my Mavic and Phantom 4, $200. For my Inspire $500....

I'm a member of the AMA which provides insurance for your drones and you which not only covers the drone if stolen, but liability insurance which I believe is $1 million or $2 million in case you hit personal property or a person. And I also have an insurance umbrella policy as well. Cheap enough especially if you are established, have a good job, have assets, a home, etc...

Which brings up a pet-peeve of mine. All these drone owners, and I'm not just talking Spark, but all the other DJI drones; Owner's are SO concerned about losing their drone there are dozens of threads asking about which insurance company covers a lost drone. They are so worried about losing their $500-$3,000 drones and not worried or thinking about liability should that drone crash into personal property damaging or hitting and/or killing a person. Slim chance, but that possibility exists. And if someone is seriously injured they don't think about the potential financial implications and possible law suit that could cost them their home, savings, and potential garnished wages...

I strongly suggest that anyone who flies have some type of liability insurance that clearly covers their "drone" activities. I say this as I've heard people say their home-owners policy covers them. BUT you better check. I called my insurer which is a well-known, national insurance company and their answer was; "we cover on a case by case basis". IF they find you were negligent they won't cover you... So be aware.... Oh , and fly safe!
