This happened just yesterday...

A 77 year old guy with disabilities wandered off into the woods. Sheriff sent up a pack of police drones and found him.

Here is the press release from Collier County Sheriff's Office.

Another "drones are good" story. Let's hope this gets some play in the media.

"Each drone weighs less than 5 pounds and is equipped with a video camera. They are primarily used for tactical support, searches for missing people and event documentation. CCSO deployed drones following Hurricane Irma in 2017, the first major disaster in which drones were deployed locally. "

Yeah, thanks for telling that to everyone. Otherwise most people think that drones are equipped with guns and associate them with military use.

They deployed 6 drones to find him! The picture in their press release is a DJI Phantom

Wow thanks for the link, as you say a positive story with drones starring. We will be visiting Naples soon. The area is full of State Parks and airports so am going to have to be very careful where I fly but I am determined to get up. Journey over from Blighty is the first challenge but am all prepared thanks to fab advice and help on this Forum.
