Hello Sparky Pilots,
I'm going on the Danube River Cruise that will be covering 5 different countries. (Czech Republic,Germany,Austria,Slovakia,Hungary). I would like to ask a couple of questions to prepare my trip with the spark even though the trip is booked for March 2020.
1. How do I research if drones are legally to fly at those countries?
2. DJI GO 4 app has Foot Prints under flight records, does the drone to be in the air or just turn on to get that country to register on flight records?

Thanks, John

Hi! That looks like an awesome adventure!
About your questions now:
1) just check on google: Czech drone regulations etc and you should find everything you need!
2) to get the footprints you need to get a flight log with good gps signal (so yes, you have to take off at least)

Germany:
- no authorization required for less than 5kg drones for non-commercial use
- max height 100m, in line of sight, no flying at night
- flying forbidden in the usual places : near airports, military installations, hospitals (helicopter traffic), etc
- flying over private property forbidden for privacy concerns
- flying in nature reserves (Naturschutzgebiet) forbidden!
- drones >250g must be labeled with the name and the address of the owner

Austria:
Forget it. You need an authorization and an insurance for any video/photo enabled drone >250g. The procedure takes several weeks and costs around 400€ per year.
