How is spark at return to home?

Sometimes I don't know where my Spark is exactly. I often lose track of it as soon as I start looking at the phone screen. It's easy to follow a tiny dot in the sky as long as you don't look away it seems.

But I do start searching the sky when I see it's getting nearby whether I am operating it or the RTH activated. I've spotted it already behind me, and once figured it was directly in front of the sun because I couldn't find it but could hear it.

But as far as I know, once Spark is close enough, you can override the RTH, so you can keep it up there avoiding things until you spot it, instead of landing somewhere you don't want to land. So, just hold it up there, instead of letting it land. A few seconds more is worth it to know exactly where it's going to try to come down. If the battery is almost out, is I believe the only time you can't interrupt it. Is that correct?
