Invasion of the body scratchers

At a certain time of the year, thousands, if not millions of insectopds hatch and invade the area looking for a juicy meal, especially the blood of a Spark pilot.
For days after, the said itchy pilot will have an insatiable urge to scratch and come out in nasty red welts.
Oh Well (t), Spark was on hand to witness and attest to the facts and events.

Now stop scratching, they cannot get at you through the screen!

Enjoyed the video droffarc. Those bugs sound nasty and worse then mosquito bites. I'm hoping that your Spark lowered their population a little. Thanks for taking the time to show us.

Are these sandflies (aka midges) ??
Hard to tell size from the video, but they are fairly small, and yeah, the bites can be prolific and worse than mosquito bites.
