Is my phone under-powered?

I have a Blu Studio G2 phone, 1.3gHz quad-core (MT6580M chipset), 512mb RAM. Sometimes the DJI Go 4 app runs ok (by ok, I mean not much lag or video breakup), sometimes it's slow as molasses or crashes. How much of the software problem is caused by the app itself or my phone? Apparently, I should have at least 1g RAM. However, I just bought the phone and am not looking forward to spending more money on another one. Can I get by or is buying a new phone inevitable?

512 or RAM is not enough. You should have a device with 1.5 to 2GB of ram. You can get a used iPad Mini 2 on ebay cheap. I use a used iPad Mini 2 and it works great with Go 4 app and the added benefit of larger screen to see.

Yes that phone is very underpowered. I know it's a bummer man but it's the way the world works now unfortunately.
Try to find a phone with a quad core min and two gigs of ram or more..

I upgraded to a Blu R2+ with a 1.3 gHz octa-core processor and 3 gigs of RAM and the DJI app runs as smooth as silk.

A cheap alternative is a vernee mix 2. +/- 120 dollars 4gb ram. Yes its a chinese phone, yes i use it to. No i dont have issues
