New spark owner struggling to activate the drone

Hi I am a Brit living in China, just got the new spark (my first ever drone) delivered today, but it wont read the code when I am trying to activate it, need some help please

Don’t use the qr codes, they don’t work. Type them manually.

That all looks so simple, and it would be if it wasn't for the Android/5GHz problem where you never see the Spark's SSID as it's on a band which mostly isn't used in Europe.

It would have saved me a lot of heartache if this, and the 'three beeps to reset WiFi' was mentioned in the quick start info.

I managed to get it activated, and updated the firmware as instructed
