Really short battery and poor connection

I got my spark a few days ago and I've been flying it for a bit. But my battery always seems to run out super super fast. It said the battery had a flight time of about 15 minutes which is fair. But mine lasts for about 6 max (even without wind) and my connection quality always seems to be really poor too. It'll be good when I'm 5 feet away but any further and it seems to drop pretty quickly. I went to my Wi-Fi connection to change it but it's stuck on 5 ghz and It won't let me change it. Any ideas?

Are you flying in sport mode? WiFi connection on the Spark sucks, it's unfortunate, but that's just the way it is.

Nah, I don't have the controller. So I can't use sports mode. Thats probably another reason why my connection sucks.

It seems that bad signal could be draining your battery. Bad or lose antenna on the bird. Ever tried using it purely as a selfie drone as a test. Using only hand gestures to test battery time?

At least check the battery status page in the go app.
The battery capacity should show about 1480mAh, and the 3 cell voltages 4.35V when fully charged.
