Singapore Flyer

Hi there,
Here's my video of the Singapore Flyer and the adjacent Gardens by The Bay!
The Singapore Flyer is a giant observation wheel which opened in 2008, with construction having taken about 2½ years. It has 28 air-conditioned capsules, each able to accommodate 28 passengers, and incorporates a three-storey terminal building.The Flyer has an overall height of 165 metres (541 ft).

Spectacular shots, Rwarrior. An amazing city with incredible architecture. I'd suspect a lot of boom coincided with Hong Kong's return to Chinese rule, but I could be wrong. One thing I've wondered about: knowing how Singapore feels about some things like chewing gum, how are they on drone regulations? Enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing.

Very nice video! I'm a little surprised that you were allowed to fly as close to the structure as you did. It appears that there were no people so was this before the opened or in the evening?

Actually the boom and busts were already there before the HK handover, and long after as well.
The stunning architecture is more a result of careful and long term planning... for eg, the Bay area is actually a man made barrage for flood control and water management, and was first conceived in 1987.
As for the chewing gum ban, its more bluster than reality... contrary to what most foreigners imagine, you can have your gum and chew it... just don't throw it on the streets indiscriminately... haha
And for drone regulations, we're tightening up the rules wef Jan 2020, following pretty much the same framework as the US and UK. There were 2 recent incursions into the airport area that prompted the tightening, but it was bound to happen anyway.
All in all, I hope they take a measured approach.

Hi there!

Yup, I was flying early morning and early evening, and actually the flyer was shut down for maintenance.
But I was also not that close, what I did was to zoom in on the clip in post editing...[emoji4]

Parliament: Compulsory registration for drones from Jan 2 next year, penalties to be raised

Any issue with metal / magnetic interference?

Any issue with flying authorisation so close to a public attraction?

I am always too shy at flying my drone with people, scared of losing the connection too. Guess I should just practice more...

I didn't have any issues with takeoff or during flight... in reality I was not that close, tho.
And the flyer was closed for maintenance so very few people at the site, altho there were joggers in the vicinity.
I always try to avoid people too, and look for an isolated spot to launch and land from. Nice thing about the Spark is that it's small and anonymous once up in the air.
