My Spark is setup and everything works. I'm on a motorcycle trip so I picked up a couple of extra batteries for th e trip.

Imagine my surprise when I had the perfect shot in the middle of the Everglades in Florida when I get a message..."Can't take off, battery needs firmware update"...ugh...my other batteries were dead and there was not enough cell coverage for updating. [emoji20]

Known "thing" with most DJI products. I always recommend as soon as you get a new battery or drone is to fire everything up inside at night in in low pressure environment (no wife yelling or kids screaming) just to make sure all settings are correct and firmwares up to date. Then put all your batteries on charge over night. DJI batteries will self discharge over a set period of time for the health of the battery.

Had the same thing happen to me the first time I flew my new Spark. I had two batteries. I used batt #1 to do all the set-up and activation, and FW updates. Flew batt #1. Everything was fine. Fired up with batt #2 and it went in to an instant FW update. I had no idea what was going on. Luckily, it only took a couple minutes. At that point, I figured it must have been a battery update.
