Well, sport mode and intelligent flight modes are 2 different issues. Sport mode is directly activated by the button on your RC.

 

[RENOV8R]

-enable intelligent flight modes
-disable obstacle avoidance
-disable beginner mode

Flip the Sport Mode switch and hang on!

As stated above, you must turn of beginner mode (if enabled), and enable intelligent flight modes.
Did you do this check?

You may have distance limit selected in settings. That happened to me. I turned it off and WOW what a difference.
Be advised that obstacle avoidance will be off automatically.
