Swamp in the woods - photosphere

There is an old rail bed converted to bicycle rail trail near Newburyport, Massachusetts. The barely visible swamp along the trail is home to a couple of great blue herons that fly away at the slightest sound of an approaching observer. This a photo-sphere showing the swamp habitat.

Yes, blue herons are very nervous creatures. Nesting birds will sometimes abandon their nest, with chicks in it, just because they were disturbed.
