Transmitter binding

I'm not new to rc or quads, but when I go through the binding procedures for the Transmitter to spark and it operates with no problems when I come to turn both on again they don't seem to be bound and I have to repeat the button pressing procedure again.
Is there a knack to getting it to permanently bind? (Well enough to at least remember each other next power up).

It should remember.
Standard SSID and password on the Spark wifi (not sure if really matters) ?
What power up sequence did you use? Powering Spark then RC work fine on mine. If I turn on first the RC till it stop blinking red and is solid red and then the Spark, it finally link, but it takes more time (less than 30 seconds).
