What do new UK drone rules mean for Spark?

Hi. I've just heard about new UK drone rules (or upcoming ones) about requiring us to register and pay a yearly fee for drone usage. I believe this is for drones over 250g which the Spark is just a little over. What does this mean for Spark pilots? Is there anyway to shave some weight off the...

Couldn't get Spark to fly backwards with active track

Okay, so still quite new to the Spark but I took it out on a nature walk recently. It was in the country side along a path. It was a reasonably wide path but it had some bushes to the side and beyond that trees. Nothing too narrow but far from open space too. I manually navigated the Spark in...

Teething problems connecting to WiFi only tablet?

I'm not entirely sure but I think the Android feature where it uses mobile data connection if the WiFi connect you're attached to doesn't have internet was causing problems. Because once it was connected to the Spark via WiFi, it (obviously) couldn't find internet on that connection so it was...

Teething problems connecting to WiFi only tablet?

What's the reason for turning off bluetooth? Is it just precautionary as it's just one less thing to cause interference?

Spark Fly More Combo - am I missing a microSD card?

I purchased the Spark Fly More combo kit from DJI store (I'm in the UK). I got a 16GB MicroSD card but I do think this was a promotional extra rather than being part of the combo kit. It's a pretty high quality and fast memory card too so saved me a few quid.

Teething problems connecting to WiFi only tablet?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I connected the RC to my N7 also. I thought I could easily switch between RC with my N7 and just my N7 alone. But seems like this is not the case. I'd rather play it safe and just use the RC as the main connection to the drone due to the more reliable connection to the...

Teething problems connecting to WiFi only tablet?

So I opened my brand new Spark yesterday and went through all the setup. I used my WiFi only Nexus 7 tablet and found it annoying that it had to keep switching between my router WiFi with internet and the Spark/controller WiFi to do the firmware update. I guess doing it on a mobile wouldn't be...

    Tablet with Spark question

This make sense. So the only feature you'll miss by a mobile device with no mobile data connection is the map view. Not a big issue. I think I'd prefer this as I'd want to use my Nexus 7 which is WiFi only. Bigger screen and all. Plus my phone has a lot of other apps on there that could just...

    Tablet with Spark question

I'm lacking experience of using the actual app but not sure why you need to view the map while you're flying the Spark. Surely you should keep the drone in direct eye sight anyway so no need for a map. And GPS points can still be recorded even without maps. You can then plot those points on a...

    Tablet with Spark question

A WiFi only mobile device can still have onboard GPS. E.g. my WiFi only Nexus 7 tablet has onboard GPS. As for map data, I'm not sure how the app works but if you're trying to reset the home location to the current location (of the mobile device) then I don't see why it needs map data, it would...

    Tablet with Spark question

I don't understand, this limitation. How does the presence or not of mobile data connection (LTE/4G or whatever) on the controlling device affect the ability to reset the home point after taking off? If the mobile device is being used to control the Spark then can't it send this information over...

Using the spark without a controller?

Thank you all. I think I will heed all the advice here and make sure that I always have the controller or mobile connected. The main reason for the drone is to use it as a glorified selfie stick (i.e. I want to use it to capture photos/videos of me and my party in it). I don't currently have any...

Using the spark without a controller?

Sorry, I meant without the controller or mobile device. If I had just the drone with me, can I enable active tracking? What exactly can I do with just the drone alone?

Using the spark without a controller?

I'm still waiting for my Spark to be delivered but wanted to find out, is there a way you can enable the Spark to follow with active tracking without using a controller? I know you can do palm launching/control but that involves having your palm up to the drone (I assume the Spark is just...
