Activate spark before sync of remote?

I purchased my Spark and purchase my remote separately. I am about to activate my spark. Do I activate it and then sync with the remote? Or do I sync with the remote and then activate through the remote? A little help please. This is confusing if you don’t purchase the Fly more combo. I am asking because the I’d and password are different. Thank you for any help you can give in advance,

I would bind the remote first

Here's what I do:

1. Cut off blue tooth
2. Turn on remote controller
3. Turn on Spark Drone
4. Go to phone and link the spark in the wifi settings

This always works for me and I have had no issues.
