Battery Bulging Due to Heat?

With the recent heat wave in California, I noticed one of my batteries is slightly bulged likely due to the hot weather.
I can tell it's bulged because the seam between the battery and underbelly is not smooth.
Has anyone had issues with bulging batteries and even batteries exploding in mid-flight? I plan to replace the battery ASAP.

Bulging LiPo batteries are considered, by the general RC hobby community, dangerous.

Glad to read you're taking it seriously!

Now for an even larger problem - proper, safe disposal...
They usually begin loosing capacity as well. Flying in hot weather is hard on batteries, adding to the heat they generate while discharging. I recently flew a long flight at 30 mph in my phantom and the battery came out at around 140deg F, the max temp for a lipo. This was spring weather in the 60s. I carefully checked the battery for swelling after. FYI, I used a infrared gun to measure the temp.

My forgetful self left mine in the car.
In Florida.
In summer.

Yeah, all of my batteries have swollen and delaminated.

For now, it's what I have.

And at the moment, I can't afford to replace them or upgrade.

So, I'll be careful, and fly it until it can't fly no more!

My experiencing with those type of batteries is the discharge curve is much steeper than a healthy battery. It may quickly go from 80% to 30% rapidly. Good luck.
