Can spark connect to controller while plugged in?

I have two sparks. My new one seems to have difficulty connecting to the controller when plugged in AC. Sometimes it will link and turn green after about 15 seconds, but most of the time it just stays red. If I unplug the AC it almost always connects. My old spark however will connect every time regardless if its plugged into the wall or not. Why does this seem to make a difference?

I cannot think why that would be so.
I also cannot think why you want to do that. Have I missed something.

Maybe check the software edition for each drone to see if they are different.
