They make fireproof lipo bags and plastic terminal covers for the batteries, but I have read that they may attract more attention to the airport screeners.
I have not heard of a DJI battery spontaneous combust like the cheap batteries in phones and toys.
Lithium batteries are prohibited by all airlines and the TSA in checked baggage. If you put them there and they are found they will be disposed of, possibly along with your luggage. Always put the batteries in carry-on.best thing to do is get a hard case.
I just put them on the belt and goes straight through.
Recently, since the Mavic Air cases are so large, I went back to the stock cases and put them in a carry on size roller bag.
Worked out very well for my past trip in Vegas.
