You rarely get your original drone back. Your replacement unit will appear new but have different serial number and need to be re-paired with RC.
So will DJI or I have to update my DJI account to show the new serial number? That (sending a different one back) would also make sense as to why I would be able to acquire DJI Care on the one that comes back (even if I did not purchase for the originally damaged one).
When they send you notice that replacement drone is on the way they will offer you DJI Care... take it!
