Is the spark a Long Range drone?

Wont you destroy your battery discharging it that far? Spark is capable of long range but if you want to break VLOS all the time you need Mavic Air or just go with Mavic 2. They have zero percent interest financing at Best Buy and you can still buy DJI refresh after you activate... just buy it lol

Vast majority of my flights I land with 25% battery left. Occasionally I'll push the limit on a distance run and so far, no lasting affect on the battery.

I fly over desolate desert terrain taking videos out to 1 mile + a little and have had enough battery left after returning to be comfortable. My one concern is wind direction. If I fly any distance away I make sure I’ll have a tail wind on the way home!

Wind can definitely cause issues - pay attention to direction before takeoff and always if possible go against the wind on your way out. Also be aware that if you really push it, once the battery reaches 12 or 13% it will try to auto-land (which you can prevent by pushing joystick to go up), but the killer is you slow to roughly 12 mph which if you were planning on 28-30 mph will cause you to come up short of returning to home all the way. Had it happen where I went 15,250 ft out, but came up just 400 ft short of making it home before battery gave out. SPARK will give you 75 to 120 seconds extra time after hitting 0% which would have gotten me home, except the speed slowed at 13% battery to 12mph and I came up short (and learned a valuable lesson).
