Poor connection.. Controler or OTG

The last few times I have taken out the spark, it flys like its on WiFi, poor distance and choppy pictures. I figured my OTG some how failed. Today I sat down with it to make sure it was not using WiFi. I connect everything up like I always have before and I notice that the 5.8 and WiFi icon are at the top of the screen. I made sure that I turned WiFi and Bluetooth off on my phone. It’s my understanding that if the OTG cable is set up right, you should see 2.4 and not be able to change any channels. I see 5.8 and can change channels. I see nowhere that I can change to 2.4. When I unplug the cable, I loose image transmission. I’m confused because the WiFi is off on my phone.. so do I need to do something to my controller?

In the past I have been able to fly all around the neighborhood no problem, now I can only get about 50 feet away.

No it works on both 5.8 or 2.4 i use otg and 5.8 everyday..
