Spark microUSB video transfer - is it true?

Still awaiting delivery of my Spark but just found out, via a YouTube video, that you can transfer data to your PC using the microUSB port on the back of the Spark, rather than taking out the microSD card. Now I've been reading a lot about the Spark recently, including the manual, and this is the first time I've heard about this useful technique. So, is it true and are there any downsides to transferring your stills and videos using this method?

Yes you can. It's like a usb-stick on your pc.
But I don't use this method.
Because you have to power up your spark to get this method to work.
And I don't like to use my batteries like this but that's personal I think .
I only use my batteries to fly to keep them so healthy as possible.

Also it's much slower than a dedicated reader.

Yes popping out the card is easy enough and the cover seems sturdy.

It's so simple and easy to remove the micro sd card that's all I do with my spark and p4

Keep an eye on the card.
Spark has a good spring and may shoot across the desk when removing it.
Mine did.

I never take out the SD card, when I finish flying I immediately plug spark into my PC, remove the video and photos then remove and charge the battery..
