I'm planning to give my nephew a Spark as a surprise while on vacation in St.Thomas this week. This will be his first drone, and obviously he has never had a DJI account or activated a drone before. Might be a dumb question, but is there going to be any issues by initiating all of this in St Thomas as opposed to the United States?

TIA!

No, it will work! I've bought a mavic a year ago when I was visiting the states and I activated it when I got home (Spain)

The only thing in this cases is the warranty, it only works were it was sold. But St. Thomas is US territory so I don't think it will be a problem

Good to hear! My situation is the opposite....I purchased the Spark here in the States where he will reside and mostly use the Spark, but he's going to have to activate it overseas in a foreign country. I already bought his DJI Refresh Care, just in case. :)

Yeah.. don't worry activation won't be an issue, it doesn't relate to were it was activated but were it was purchased

Dji Refresh works in the same way as the warranty, it only works in the geographic region were it was sold!

It's good to have that in mind when traveling abroad, I've heard of a few cases when people try to use their Refresh coverage outside their country and DJI obviously say that you can but you'll have to pay for shipping to were you purchased the drone (in case of warranty claim) or the Refresh (in case of Refresh claim)

You can actually buy the Refresh from the US DJI site and a second one from Another region.

I'm my case for example I've got tre mavic in the US and the Refresh in EU so I'm covered here at home
