I am gonna buy a used Spark next week and it's already activated by the seller, what should I do?
Keep the activation under his name or he should de-activate it before selling it to me so I activate it again?
What are the potential problems to keep the activation under his account? Can he shut it down or claim he's been stolen to get money from insurance?
sorry for my noobiness

There's no way to de-register a Spark. Since the Spark has already been activated in DJI GO, you'll just need to do the following:
  • Install DJI GO 4 on your mobile device
  • Create a DJI account (if you don't already have one)
  • Log into your DJI account in DJI GO
  • Connect the Spark to your mobile device
  • Verify all of your Spark settings in DJI GO
  • Fly

Thanks!
From the pics he sent me it looks in perfect shape, I will have to check the propellers if one shut down before the others when turning off the drone right?

What exactly do you mean by that?

Hi. First post. I have the same situation. Can't find anything in the manual about manual activation. I have done the first three bullets. How to connect to my mobile device? Spark turned on or off? Possible my device is not supported (Motorola Moto Z Play)?

Not to be a smart A**, but how would you connect to something if it were off?

I had my Spark on and connected to my phone but nothing happened so I had to ask if it should be off. Nothing is on for the QR scan.

You don't need to activate a used device. If it's already been activated, then, as stated above, just log in with your DJI account.

If you don't have a remote controller, then you will need to connect your mobile device to the Spark's WiFi. Look for it in the WiFi settings on your device.

The QR codes are sketchy at best. I had mine working on my Moto X Play before moving to a Moto G5s which also works fine.

There are plenty of videos on YouTube to assist you with connecting, but essentially you need to turn on the Spark, once it has started up connect to it's wifi and open the Go app.

The previous owner may have changed the original wifi settings, so you may need to do a factory reset if the previous owner did not.

@Goatrivergoat, try activating your Spark like this:

Still can't connect even though I do have the spark bound to the remote.
Okay. Let's back up.

Are you using the Spark with the remote controller AND your phone? Or without a mobile device?

If you are using the remote and your phone with the Spark, then you need to connect your phone's WiFi to the Spark-RC (ie the REMOTE) WiFi.

Otherwise, can you give details of exactly what steps you are following and what happens at each step.

@Goatrivergoat, where in the above video do things start not going as shown in the video?

I have been able to connect now. RC connected to DJI go 4 and Fly Now displayed. Working slowly through the settings and have firmware updates done.
Thanks for everyone's help. Hopefully I can understand the settings.
