DGI GO 4 App modes. Should I?

Never mind, my show sponsor said stay away from App mods. I just asked DJI if they would do a firmware update for Spark and include Point Of Interest Intelligent Flight Mode. All the other DJI Drones have it! DJI How about giving this one handed stroke survivor POI for Spark?

Works like a dream on Litchi

Edit. On reflection, if you only have one hand, using the rc must be difficult. The waypoint mode in Litchi lets you have waypoints and POIs and can all be set up one handed before flight. Flying the mission is as simple as pressing one button from take off to landing.

"App modes" ? Are you referring to the DJI GO MOD v2 ?
If yes I just discovered and tried a companion Android app called DJI GO MOD Missions that will let you program waypoints offline for free DJI Go mosd missions software
It won't let you control gimbal tilt like Strava though.

As for DJI adding waypoints to the Spark ? Can't see that happening !

With Litchi you can set up waypoint missions on desktop or laptop computer. Very precise using mouse and large bright monitor screen instead of phone. The saved missions automatically sync to your phone in seconds. Really works great with the Spark.

Software mods may void your warranty in the event of a crash.

Doesn't Litchi kill your DJI Warranty too on top of setting you back 25€ ? Anyway that doesn't tell us what he had in mind with "App modes! " ;-)

1. No. Litchi does not "kill your warranty". In fact, DJI provides developers with a SDK (Software Developer Kit) specifically for the purpose of creating third-party apps such as Litchi. It is available in the official Android Play Store and Apple App Store. It is NOT a firmware hack.

2. Yes. Litchi costs about $23 and it's worth every penny. Very unlikely DJI will update their Go App to include waypoints for Spark at this point. So you are getting features reserved for Mavic Air and Mavic Pro without spending hundreds more. That's a bargain.

3 The original poster inquired about "app modes". This was obviously a typographical error as the questions related directly to APP MODS.

If you crash while using 3rd party software, then you are NOT covered.
This has been asked of and answered by DJI dozens of times.

Yes, it is DJI's SDK but DJI is NOT responsible for what a 3rd party does with that SDK.
Litchi height limit of 2000metres???

Other warnings are out there in multiple threads concerning Litchi or any other 3rd party app.

Surprised that an "expert" like you all too ready to school others doesn't know the difference between WARRANTY and DJI REFRESH ! DJI Refresh covers you whatever happens as long as you can send the drone back and didn't fly it into a wall on purpose. Having said that you need to work on your piloting, with modern drones you really have to be taking big risks to crash them. Last time I crashed was with my Parrot AR Drone back in 2015 ;-)

Anyway I think it's time for the OP to chime in with what he had in mind exactly ;-)

DJI Refresh covered me both times. Once with Litchi and first time with Go App. Had it back in ten days. No questions asked. It is no fault coverage
I've also had a replacement drone issued which was the result of a Litchi Waypoint mission "gone bad". Similar turn around time. Canada to Texas back to Canada within 2 weeks. As long as you recover your drone you're getting a replacement under Care Refresh. (I guess unless you use hacked software like Mod Go4)

DJI Susan explains it well. (They like us crashing and purchasing DJI Care Refresh and Care Extend = return business and jobs for techies as well as product inventory in/out)Screenshot_20180816-225645.jpg
