Does spark need to constantly see my FACE for gesture control to work?

Hi folks...

Having some problems with gesture control.

I'm wondering if Spark needs to CONSTANTLY see my face for gesture control to work?

Looking back, I'm thinking that sometimes I have my hand between Spark and my face...blocking Spark's view of my face...could that be the reason Spark may not be respond (from time to time) to gesture control?
