Drone Fishing with Spark

I have just spent 80USD on a bait-release mechanism for my Spark with the purpose to test it’s practical viability as a drone for fishing! Don’t think it will work for fishing from the beach, but I need to try, otherwise I will have to consider a bigger drone eg. used Phantom 3 to take bait and line 100-200 meters out to sea. Anyone tried/tested/evaluated a Spark for drone fishing!
I will report back once I received the release mechanism and tried it out on land first!

I remember this thread from 2018.

Simple and effective.

He would fly the Spark to the area keeping the line tight and "hit the brakes" on the Spark to allow the line to slide off of the hook.

I've been tempted more than once.

As long as you aren't using a heavy sinker, it should be relatively straightforward.

I have been thinking about using a clothespin for a release. Just enough line in it to barely grip. Run it out, and give a tiny tug on the line and it should drop free.

That shrimp would have a crazy alien abduction story to tell!

Just keep in mind the fishing line adds drag, it's worse if it's breezy.

Have had no problems with this design my mavic or spark. Simple effective device.

Spark casting

Simple hook for spark. Get at Walmart. Spark can carry descent fishing lure and bait out for cast. A little pilot skill required, fwd momentum keeps line on hook. Just drop by stopping suddenly or move backwards. 10 casts and only one dropped to early. 5 fish caught as well
