Is the spark a Long Range drone?

How did you get that range?

EDIT: nwver mind, watched your other video. Doesn’t have much to do with how I use my Spark... cool to see the tech pushed to the limits..

Is Spark a long range drone?

I think NO.
Flight time and transmission system are very limited, out of the box.
Mods don't count.

Not in the U.K. it isn’t.. I haven’t flown mine further than 500m..

Didn’t buy mine for long range, don’t see the point. I use it for close up videos and fun.
I totally agree with everything you said from my point of view. There are some pilots like pmshop 4 that does some medium range flights for cinematic purposes and I like to see those flights but just trying to push the limits out of curiosity is crazy in my book. The Spark is not a reconnaissance drone. It is a sophisticated camera drone and meant for fun. It should be flown safely.

We have a lighthouse that is one mile out. I fly under 100 feet and over water.

Today is probably the day I will be attempting that flight with sparky. Depends on the wind. I was just over 5000 feet over a lake a few days ago with plenty of signal.

The spark doesn’t fly that long 10 minutes and is easily effected by interference. It’s not the best choice for long distance but it is easily capable of over a mile which is more than any of us need considering VLOS Visual Line of Sight.

Made it! Just over a mile out to sea at 75 feet or so. I did slide on a $8 antenna extender. Amazing drone.. then flew Mavic 2 zoom out that’s the close up.

Holy lighthouses Batman! :D Seriously though. Great pictures and congrats on a successful flight. I have never seen a lighthouse with a cross on top. Unusual and cool.

My neighbor was going to come with me tomorrow and fly his spark to the lighthouse but they are calling for some high westerly winds....probably not a good idea tomorrow.

The Lighthouse is called Great Beds Lighthouse built in 1880 to protect Beds of oysters from ships . Someone lived there and manned the light until 1943. It’s now privately owned but still lights up at night.

As some of us, I wanted to know...
From an observation platform, I did try a long shot.
On Sport mode, did a run to 2000 meters without
any connection problems. Did bring it back with 22%
battery remaining. But... I was a little nervous, not
use to fly FPV only at that speed and freaking out
too watch the battery level bar at the top, with the H
icon sliding right pretty fast. Surprise and happy of
the capabilities of that small package but don't think
I'll try again... Just wanted to know...

That is really interesting. I looked it up. Amazing that it has been there for so long and it is constructed with cast iron. Maybe you can get a video or some pictures of it at dusk with it lit up. That would be great.

I need to pruf read my poasts. I ment dusk not dust. ;) :D

Depends on how you define long range. I'm no where near the distance as some of the mods out there, but with just the $8 parabolic range extender on stock SPARK, battery and remote, I've been as far as 14,588 ft out (roughly 2.8 miles) away - 29K+ ft round trip over water. Not too bad with such a small drone and battery life if looking for a distance run landing with 2% battery left.
