Just picked up a used Spark combo with extras from a private party. In setting it up and getting used to it, I noticed the spark has a fan that runs even when at rest and that the body gets warm to the touch if not flown for 5 minutes or more. Is this normal?

yes warm to the touch , compact , small and well packed . there is a post that shows the inside of the spark very complex , amazing how they pack all the technology in a small frame .

Yes, it's normal to get hot if powered on and sitting on the ground. The Spark is primarily air cooled passively during flight. The fan is only a supplement.
