Spark front leds never on

The front leds are never on except at startup. I have tried reinstalling firmware and downgrading firmware and still no lights in flight.
The drone is only a month old and I dont know what to try next.
I do know they are supposed to turn off while recording but that isnt the issue.
any ideas?

Maybe you already know this but when filming, the front LEDs turn off.

I used dji assistant to factory reset after reinstalling firmware and all is good now.
lights are on now except when filming.
