Hey guys!

I've had my spark for a few days now and its been working great. Unfortunately though I haven't been able to charge it via usb or get it to connect to my computer via usb.

I've tried multiple usb cables (including the one that came with the fly more combo) and also multiple wall chargers and power banks. I also let the batteries cool down etc.

Any ideas? I hope it's not just defective because other than the usb not working, the spark has been working brilliantly.

Thanks,
Chris Winter

Hi
Should charge from a USB power source (computer will not allow to charge the battery). It can take several seconds till it start charging. I have tried with many wall USB power source block, from 0.5A to 3A rating and all started to charge the Spark this way. It just take much more time if current is limited.

To connect it to a computer so you can see the files on the uSD card or use the DJI assistant 2, you need to power the Spark with its battery.

Maybe as simple as that? But having the 2 issues you describe don't sounds good. At least if you can get the connection to computer.
Check if the uUSB connector on the Spark is not damaged.
For the computer connection, maybe try another computer?

Some computer USB ports don't supply power. Could be that when you try a pc.
Have you tried taking off the battery? Do that, check the power in the battery while disconnected (one press on the power button), pop the battery back on the Spark, turn it on, then off, then connect the cable.

Looks like some black magic and a dance would be extra needed to work :)
Powered USB hub, several computers tested, all the same, you cannot charge it this way.
When you plug a USB device on a computer, there is some dialog to get more power from the port otherwise the it deliver only limited power.

You need a charger with a output of 2amps minimum if im not miskaten, USB ports on the PC/laptop normally produce around 1a output unless you have one of the new fancy 3.0 3.1 USB ports

Not true, a charger with 0.5A will charge the Spark battery, but it will take many many hours. I thought the same as you until I made a real test.
Normal USB port from a PC will not charge Spark battery because they see it as a disk interface and provide only limited current to it. Also the Spark see the PC and don't expect to charge from it.

The Spark will only charge from adapters that report themselves as a charger, not from a computer/hub. Best is to use a QC3 compatible charger or power bank.
