I'm on the fence between the spark and the phantom 3 SE. I've read some horror stories about th spark falling out of the sky. Is this still an issue? This will be a gift for my son.

DJI fixed the battery issue that was most likely causing those issues in the August 21st Spark firmware release.

I have a few hundred flights on mine without any issues outside of occasional app crashing. But keep in in VLOS and you're fine.

I was considering the same two drones before deciding on the Spark.
So glad I did, it's been awesome so far !

Phantom is too big and cumbersome. Only reason to go for bigger sized drone is for their camera.

Zero flight issues, never fallen out of the sky.
