Yea! It was a big lesson learned for me as the SD card became full in the later part of the day hence some of the clips could only be retrieved from the phone memory.. when I upload to YouTube the whole clip became 720p :(

If you edited the 1080 footage into the 720 footage, the editor usually picks the lowest resolution to work with and the entire project becomes 720 by default.
If it happens again, you might want to tell the software to match the 1080 so the 720 gets upscaled.

YouTube does distort from time to time but YouTube will not take a 1080 video and turn it into 720 after uploading.

Thank you! In that case I guess it might be set to 720p during video editing. Well I've upgraded to a higher capacity SD card so hopefully this mistake will not happen again!
